About Lauren Ashley

My life in the kitchen started when I was living my hippy life in the desert of southern Utah. My son was just a baby. A friend of mine would cook the most amazing dishes from scratch over an open flame - she had no oven or refrigerator either. That's right. She lived in a yurt with no electricity and used two separate coolers to store food. I would watch her magically make fulfilling and nutritious meals that tasted so good! She proved to me how easy it was to put a meal together, and my love for wholesome food was born. So I started to cook.

 

It's funny that my experience with this hippy community is how I define the start of my journey as a cook; at that time I was already working in food service and my brother was (still is) a professional chef; a very good one too. Actually, he owned a restaurant where I was a server for many years.  ​

 

My passion for cooking is now an obsession that allows me to tap into some serious creativity, and I love it. My favorite thing in the world is enjoying good food with friends and family inspired by the seasons and holidays. ​I'm so excited that you've made it this far on my website, and I wish you all the happiness and joy while in the kitchen. xoxo
